OHLSSON AND RICE CHAINSAW HOW TO
They have a how to section that will give you the info on a really good ignition set up. There you will find much info on vintage and antique models and engines. If you are interested in vintage airplanes and engines check out the Society of Antique Modelers website. They love it and the exhaust has that exotic racy aroma as well. I run mine as ignition on a 3:1 mix of Coleman camping fuel and Valvoline 60 wt Racing Oil. Also as a prior poster said, do not put methanol fuel in the plastic tank as it will dissolve it. Any percentage of nitro is not a good idea with these engines. The gasket is not replaceable as it was sandwiched in then the cylinder was welded on. Also the nitro will not do the gasket between the cylinder and the crankcase any good either. it was evidently a propietary process and the knowledge is lost over the years. I dont know of anyone with the ability to reweld the cylinder assembly back on. If the weld shears, the cylinder blows off and you have one ruined ohlsson engine. Fuel containing nitro can cause combustion pressures in excess of the weld's tensile strength. The cylinder is spot welded into the crankcase casting. However if running it on glow, its not recommended to run any fuel containing nitromethane in an ohlsson engine. To run it as a glow engine just put a standard glow plug in it and run it as any other glow type To run it on ignition you will need a ignition coil, and either a condenser or a transistorized ignition board. The engine will run as either an ignition engine or as a glow engine. 09 glow so pick something around that size plane for it.

I am building a 52" Garami Strato-Streak for SAM competiton events with an ohlsson. Ed Konefes 50" Cloud Snooper is also a nice design for this engine. Sal Taibi's Brooklyn Dodger is another candidate.

The Zipper in the old catalog might have been a logical choice in the 54" size.
